Bash Bish Falls, in the Berkshires, is Massachusetts' highest waterfall (depending on which website you visit the falls is somewhere between 60 and 80 feet high). The falls is located on the New York Massachusetts border and is best reached by a trail that starts in Taconic State Forrest in Copake Falls, NY. (There is no Copake waterfall.) This is an easy hike that follows the stream up to the falls. You should bring water and a snack for the hike, because you'll want to spend time at the falls.

There is a shorter way to get to the falls. You park at the upper parking lot in Bash Biff State Park, Massachusetts. The trail is a fairly short downhill scramble to the falls. The trail can be slippery after a rain. And the uphill scramble out can be a bit of a chore. I think the longer hike along the river is much nicer.

The falls is a popular spot. There was a small, but steady, stream of people coming and going when we visited in September 2009.
