Ecola State Park, Oregon

Beach at Ecola State Park
Ecola State Park is located between Seaside and Cannon Beach, Oregon. It has 9 miles of coastline and lots of hiking trails. We had a great time hiking through the forest in the park.

The park provides wonderful views of the coast. Looking south you can see Seas stacks and the town of Cannon Beach. The coastal mountains provide a beautiful background for the views.
You can see the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse out in distance.

The hiking trail give you numerous views of the Pacific Ocean. One of the parks' trails is a 2 1/2 mile historical interpretive route called the Clatsop Loop Trail. Part of the Clatsop Loop Trail and the trail over Tillamook Head follow in the footsteps of the Corps of Discovery. Captain William Clark and 12 members of the Corps of Discovery traveled through what is now the park in 1806 in search of a beached whale near present-day Cannon Beach.

If you're lucky you might see a bird or a squirrel. The trees are covered with moss and there are ferns everywhere. A neat place to spend a day.
