Amicalola Falls is the highest waterfall in Georgia. And at 729-feet it's the third-highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Some of the guidebooks claim that it is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. The claim above is from the Georgia State Park. The waterfall is highlight of the Amicalola State Park. The Georgia Parks has a beautiful lodge at the top the falls.

There is a paved hiking trail to the top of the falls. Or if you're up to it you can take the 604 stairs from the bottom of the falls to the top. If you take the trail,you'll find the wreck of a car that didn't make it around one of the curves. It looks like it's been there a long time.

The lodge is at the top of the falls. It provides great views of the Georgia Mountains and has a good restaurant.
